Weeds in my Garden

Writing is like taking care of a garden. When you ignore it, the weeds take over. What weeds? How about all those weeds that choke out growth. Now I have editing to do, my own revisions to catch up on, my son's wedding to plan, my husband to kill and Gilder to blame for it-- I'm swamped.

See you all next week.

  3. Oops! Sounds like things are getting super-hectic. I hope you take some time to relax, so smell the freshness of new-mown grass (with or without weeds), to hear the joy of a bubbling brook, to share in the high adventures of a soaring eagle.

  5. poor Gilder gets blamed for a lot ;)
I hope the weeds don't take over because otherwise you may have to face the Fire Swamp and we all know ROUSs are worse than weeds.

  7. Hahaha, after you've killed him right a book about it. I may need it when mine comes back and discovers the mess I made of finances.

  9. Hi Karen. I think you have summed up writerly conflict very well. Should we weed the garden et cetera or ....just keep on writing!

  10. I loved your gardening/writing analogy. (I love gardening almost as much as writing). I also love the comment about your husband. I've often felt that way too.

Best of luck, and have a good weekend.

  12. A few weeds add to the character of the garden. I know that for a fact, because by midsummer, my garden usually has character out the wazoo.

  14. I feel your pain! Have much editing to do, student sign ups at my virtual high school to take care of, and two track meets in two days. UGGGHH.

Courage, as the French would say. We'll make it through. :)

  15. Haha, I am loving all the Princess Bride comments here! I see I lost a follower tho, think it was the reference to killing my husband that scared 'em off?

  16. Inconceivable! Love the Princess Bride quote and comments. I came back from vacation refreshed, and now, after just three days I am ready for another vacation. The weekend is almost here, but it will be packed too.

  17. I stwuggle to weed my witing sometimes, but then I do often type in the dark :-P

Mrs Mojo sympathizes with you on the husband-killing front. Have you ever seen Strangers on a Train?

  20. I think you should go outside and do some nice therapeutic weeding... and has anyone warned your husband of his impending problem?

  21. Yep, I need to weed too! You should see my yard! I also need to finish a chapter of my book. So much to do, so little time!

  22. Hey Karen,
Being a gardener I relate to your post, I hardly ever have the time to finish everything I need to, most days I'm lucky if I get my post up before bed...
Hang in there, hope your up-coming week is great for you !

  23. I really like this analogy a lot... I myself spend too much time in the weeds when I should be writting.

  24. Okay, but don't kill your husband...

  25. Weeds are part of our daily routine. We just need to balance the time. Some time is spent on weeds, some time is spent watering and some of it is spent planting new seeds (the writing). Enjoy every step of the process!
