WiDo Publishing's submissions editor has passed the word on to moi-- She wants submissions!
Apparently an interesting evolution has been happening among writers and publishers. Small press, ebook and POD publishers are everywhere now. And guess what happens when a swarm of new publishers start opening their doors? Not to mention that self-publishing has become a viable option for writers, meaning they are not submitting.
As a result, it is becoming more of a writer's market. You guessed it, Aspiring Writers Seeking Publication-- with more Publishers Seeking Submissions wonder how many hits this phrase will get me? means more opportunity for you to get published! haha there's another one!
One unagented author who Allie wanted had six offers on the table. SIX! Several other submitting writers have responded when Allie asks for a full, saying, "Oh, I just recently signed a contract with such and such publishing company."
If you are an Aspiring Writer Seeking Publication note how I put this keyword in twice? Take that, Google search, and you have a polished, completed manuscript, what is holding you back? Fear of rejection? I hope not! Because rejection is the writer's badge of honor! It marks the Path to Publication--another awesome search keyword. Score!
And if this post has not got you Writers with a Manuscript Ready to Submit going here, then why not? What's keeping you?
Hokey Dinah! That is an interesting turn of the worm. I do not have a polished completely finished manuscript (see my blog today!) but will have one within a month...so I'll polish my query letter and get going...

I'm putting this link on all my comments as I often can't get blogspot to see me as a person!!
how can I write and revise faster? This is interesting. I need a couple of days alone to get this done. ARgh.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info about a great opportunity :)
ReplyDeleteWhat are we all waiting for? :o)
ReplyDeleteI was searching QueryTracker last night to find a small publisher for my SF story but most were either not accepting submissions or else it would take 6-18(!) months to hear back.
ReplyDeleteWiDo has published some really great books. Will definitely pass on the word.
ReplyDeleteYay for WiDo!!!! Good luck everyone!! Submit, submit!!! Yay! Take care

Small publishers are awesome! I've had a great experience with Omnific.
ReplyDeleteMaybe that's how I got lucky!
ReplyDeleteWow, I'd never thought there was so much competition out there for publishers! Guess it makes sense, though. And I agree with Liz - WiDo has some fab books, your included!
ReplyDeleteBecause I have not finished it yet, or because the one manuscript I have done happens to be a poetry chapbook. LOL
ReplyDeleteInteresting, I did send completed material to Wido and was told the writing was of excellent standard, or words to that effect, but it led nowhere. Perhaps I need to try some of the others.... if there is, as you say, so much competition.
ReplyDeletep.s. I actually have six completed manuscripts... one non-fiction, so perhaps now the time is right.
ReplyDeleteWell, I can't wait to get the edits done on my one book because I have another type of book I want to get written before writing the next in my Evans/Blackwell series.
ReplyDeleteAnd the vast majority of publishers out there are small presses.
ReplyDeleteThe manuscript I have ready for publication has graphic language, violence, and sex scenes. I doubt we'd be a good fit. But what a great opportunity for those with appropriate manuscripts.
ReplyDeleteMy WIP is in the editing stage now. When I'm ready to query, I'll keep Wido in mind.

ReplyDeleteThe other day, Glynis Smy emailed me about WiDo. I gave her thumbs up.
ReplyDeleteHooray for the writers' market. This is wonderful news.

p.s. Sorry. I goofed above.
Thanks Karen, I need to polish a few of the short stories and off we go once my current workload is off my back. I hate these "ifs" I really do, but have to earn a living.

Nice to hear some good news for writers!:)
ReplyDeleteWords a Day, Isn't it? Writers have had it awfully hard for way too long-- thus the proliferation of self-pubbing-- you can only take rejection for so long! And it appears that this "writers market" will get even better.
ReplyDeletewisewebwoman, And clean the house, and plant the garden, and shop for the food-- I have so many things I do before I write it's a wonder I get anything done at all.
Ann, I'm glad your experience was positive that you can give others a glowing report.
Theresa, Please do!
Carol, Good reason LOL!
So I am seeing all these June 13's on the internet here and I'm wondering why I'm still online because today is my birthday. So peace out everyone. Thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving your comments. Happy birthday to me!
This is an exciting development in the publishing market but I enjoyed your tongue-in-cheek subscript even more than the information you were giving us. Thanks for the info and the laugh.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Karen!
ReplyDeleteThis is always something good to hear!

Tossing It Out
I've got a publisher; I just need more, good story ideas.
ReplyDeleteGotta love a writers' market!
ReplyDeleteWish I had a completed manuscript ready to submit...not to mention a query letter...
ReplyDeleteOh I like that idea: Fear of rejection? I hope not! Because rejection is the writer's badge of honor! It marks the Path to Publication! Nice one :O)
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is interesting watching how the publishing industry is evolving. It's a great time to be a small press, I bet.
ReplyDeleteIt's really neat to see how writers are taking their time to really decide the best way into the publishing world for them. I love all the writer's who've decided the best route!
ReplyDeleteWiDo has some fabulous people working there! I've only had good experiences :)
Hi Karen .. so interesting to read the comings and goings in the publishing world - I do hope that lets some of 'our' writers in!
ReplyDeleteGood luck everyone - Hilary
