We Interrupt this Regularly Scheduled Program for a Special Announcement
My new release, House of Diamonds, is being offered free on the Kindle for a limited time only! Regularly priced at $3.99, it is currently FREE from today through Sunday.
"Gowen has an amazing talent for rich and meaningful prose. The moment
you open the first page you are captivated by her writing style. Through
her narrator she gets into a conversation with you and it feels as
though her characters are letting you in on their deepest thoughts and
feelings. I was so pleasantly surprised by how deeply I enjoyed this
book, it was a real treasure." --Wendy G. Ewurum, Fabulosity Reads
Now I will have to finally break down and buy a Kindle! But tell me Karen if your big is free these few days how do you, the hard working writer, get paid?
Donna, Good question especially considering that I'm a fan of authors getting fair pay for their hard work. It's a 5 day promotion only, and the idea is to boost sales for Uncut Diamonds, which has been languishing, and also to bring attention to House of Diamonds, which hasn't found its readership among Kindle readers. In fact, these two books have done so poorly in sales overall that I was doubting whether I knew how to write a book that anyone who didn't know me really wanted to read. The huge number of downloads of House of Diamonds in its first 24 hrs. of this promotion has shown me otherwise Plus sales of Uncut has increased as well. Restoring my faith in myself and my writing has been worth a lot to me right now, and possibly an increased readership will follow.
Sheila, I am thrilled to offer this to my bloggie friends! Maybe I'll put a little reminder link at the end of my Celery Tree promo posts this week, just so everyone who wants to can have it for free.
Did I tell you I loved Farm Girl? I will get these two next, but right now I have so many books to read. I have discovered them at the thrift store in town, where paperbacks are 25 cent and hard cover $1.00. I am amazed at the quality of the books there. They are so much better than those to be found in similar stores in Los Angeles. I wonder where these readers are hiding in our small town. Probably at home reading books.
Inger, Thanks for letting me know. I had a feeling that Farm Girl would be one you'd enjoy. I'm a sucker for used books, too. There's a thrift store in our area that sells used books galore. Unfortunately, we moved to a new home last year without any bookshelves. I'm missing the built in library of my old home, and currently have all of our books still in boxes.
