I began this blog under an old gmail address I didn't want to use anymore for blogging. I thought I was stuck with it but guess what I finally found out how to change the email address!
Under settings, you just invite yourself under the new email identity to be an administrator of the blog. Once you go to that email and "accept the invitation" you can then make this new identity an administrator and you can delete the old email identity.
Easy, right? I was so thrilled that I'd finally figured it out and now have both my blogs under the same email identity. Only guess what-- all the lovely blogs I was following under my old email on Coming Down the Mountain no longer come up on my Reader when I sign in.
Drat! The good news is that I'll happily follow you again under this email. But finding you is going to be tedious unless you make a comment here. If your comment is connected to your blog, I will find you! (movie quote, who's got it?)
So simple!
ReplyDeleteAnd Last of the Mohicans. Dig that film.
Haha Alex, when I wrote that last line I thought immediately of you, because I knew you'd get the quote! And now I'm off to give you yet another follower :)
DeleteOh, that's frustrating--but good to know there is a way to change email if needed!
ReplyDeleteAnother strange result of changing the email is that I noticed now my blog doesn't show the automatic updates on someone's sidebar like it used it. I have no idea why that's the case, since the url is exactly the same. I imagine it affects how it shows up in the search engines as well which might cause me enough of a problem that I'll go back and add the old email back. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
ReplyDeleteI was reading along and thinking - gee, I can do that....but then I remembered another friend changing their email and having similar problems. I must check with him and see whatever happened.....SO, I will leave you with a line from a song "I will follow you" :)
ReplyDeleteSaucy, It's really okay with me if my blog isn't as visible as it used to be. And I didn't lose followers (whew, thank goodness because I LOVE my follower gadget thingy). And it's nice to have a fresh start with who I'm following. My old email was connected with hundreds of blogs many of which don't even exist or post any longer.
DeleteThis is a comment - and I think it's connected to my blog somehow. Would hate to lose you.
ReplyDeleteJo, yes it's connected...I already found you from a previous comment and re-followed your blog :)
DeleteThanks, Karen - good to stay connected.
DeleteI was going to say "Taken" (film with the dashing Liam Neeson) - "I will find you and I will kill you" LOL!
ReplyDeleteTake care
x
Clever! I'd probably have spent ages thinking of a techie way of doing that and getting nowhere...
ReplyDeleteSimon, Now my head is so big because I figured out something before techie Simon. Oh yeah!
DeleteAlso, I went to follow you and realized I already do under this email. You're one of the few blogs I followed twice some time ago. Cheers!
DeleteI'm a bit of a technophobe and hate it when I have to try and work out how to do something - it takes me ages to get my head around it.
ReplyDeleteIt's the heart in mouth moment as you press the button that stops so many people making changes.
ReplyDeleteVery clever! And here I am, just waiting to be found again. :)
ReplyDeleteI feel like a kid jumping up and down with a "follow me! Follow me!" comment. I love your pertinent comments... so by all means, follow me if it's right for you.
ReplyDeleteFollow me too! I would miss your cheerful, go-getting presence.
ReplyDeleteI already did, Mise :) No way will I forgo a single beautiful post by my favorite home decorator.
DeleteThat is great that you figured it out. Bummer about not still being connected to the others.
ReplyDeleteNot that this is the same, but every now and again, I clean out my blog list and drop old blogs. And each time I do that, I always delete at least one blog that I didn't mean to.
Happy Blogging & Boogie Boogie :-)
Gotta be Last of the Mohicans. Though the show ONce Upon a Time using that all the time.
ReplyDeleteOooh, I can't name the movie! Now it's going to bug me. *evil eye at Karen*
ReplyDeleteLast of the Mohicans - yay! Love that movie!
ReplyDeleteDaniel Day Lewis... swoon!
ReplyDeleteHi Karen .. you found me - thank you! I'm hopeless with movies full stop .. include a quote and most definitely count me out ..
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend .. cheers Hilary
You are smart, Karen. I'm still trying to figure out how to make the change...
ReplyDeleteI've wanted to change emails too, but am now thinking twice. Nice to find you again. You can check out my blog again, if you'd like. We've chatted before. ;-)
