The two Karens

My blogging friend Karen Walker and I are the same age, we both enjoy memoir, and we live in the Western United States. We have even spoken on the phone and one of these days we must get together in person because I just know we'd have lots to talk about.

Today Karen reviews House of Diamonds at her blog Following the Whispers. Come by and say hi!

And don't forget the special from WiDo Publishing running throughout the end of the year. Order your copy of House of Diamonds from the website and you will also get a free print copy of Uncut Diamonds.

Have any of you had an opportunity to meet a blogging friend in person? Maybe if I got out more, I would too.

We're all set for tomorrow. Just finished tying it all together.

  3. Yes, I've met blogging buddies at the BlogHer conference (both buddies from prior to the conference and some who have become buddies since).

  4. I have, and I must say it was pretty exciting. People are capable of conveying much of their personality even on a blog--I was pleasantly surprised at the consistency of an online and real-life presence!

  5. Usually I meet people at conferences and then find them online. BUT next spring, if everything works out, I'm meeting one of my long-distance blogging buddies/crit partners in Belgium on a side trip during my UK excursion. Kind of surreal. :)

  9. I am also one of the lucky ones to meet a blogging buddy. This past June I hopped a ferry and dropped in on Carole Reid at her art exhibit - it was just the best!

I now have a piece of Carole's work - at the framers - I can hardly wait to hang it in my studio!

    I'm off to visit Karen...

    Cheers, Jenny

  10. That is a great review, Karen. I have just written two posts about friends we make on the blogs and the kindness of people we have never met in person. I have never met anyone I know from my blogging in person. One blogger just suggested we do something for a blogger friend who is seriously ill. A Christmas surprise. I think these friendships are just wonderful.

  15. Jen and I visited a blogger when she lived in Virginia; then she moved to Texas and now we miss her and her sweet little children. Karen W. and I also emailed a few times about talking on the phone, but we haven't yet. That would be great if you two could get together!

Besides my family members who blog, I've met two of them in L.A. and then there's one who started blogging recently who I knew from years ago but haven't seen in several years. Hope to meet more eventually.

  23. Michael from ...in time is the guy who makes every trip an opp to meet fellow bloggers. Somehow I like the mystery of virtual friends although there are one or two very good blogger friends I'd like to meet.

Reading your previous post Karen. Yes, life changes for us all as we motor along this writerly road. I'm now spending less time blogging and more time writing. Thanks for sharing the things you've learned thus far.

  26. It is wonderful when we actually connect with blogging friends. I did that in Ireland Last year. Theresa's visit to Ireland coincided with my summer stay. We got together with Brigid and Barbara, chatted over tea and cakes. It was wonderful!!!!! You are both my favourite Karens too!
