How's Your Novel Coming?

Here's another cute guy to encourage all of you November novel writers.

This was taken by my son last year when he was in Namibia. He also took the photo of the giraffe on top of my blog.  Happy writing!

"How many words are you up to now, hmmmm???"

  5. I love giraffes. Maybe one day I'll make it to see them in the wild instead of just in a zoo.

So far I'm a little over 9k, but I'm hitting the wall today (hence reading blogs instead of writing). I've gotten to a confrontation that I have no idea how to handle. Hopefully I'll make it through the roadblock today.

  8. My baby cousin was a giraffe for Halloween. I asked her what sound the giraffe made and she just stared at me like I was an idiot...

Uhhh of course for writing, I'm editing my alien novel and counting that as my Nano-ing. It's coming... you never realize how much crap and amazingness that you can have in one thing till you edit. It's kind of like mystery meat. Okay...I officially can't analogize.

  9. Magan, I have no idea what sound a giraffe makes either! I'll have to ask my son, who has even more giraffe pictures. One is of a baby giraffe licking his head.

mshatch, Okay you are officially awesome!

Alex, so cool that you can focus on this with your debut novel just out.

Valerie, Hello! Must stop by your blog and say hi.

Witless Exposition, Blogging is a great way to take a break, and good luck with getting through the confrontation.

    Jules, LOL!

Joanna, omigosh you are writing longhand? You are my hero.

Linda, What is it about giraffes that seem so encouraging? Maybe it's the long necks that symbolize reaching, reaching?

Jenn, I have even more! I'll save them for later LOL.

Summer, Happy writing this weekend! I plan on doing some catching up as well.

  10. I hit 13,750 last night, but only because I took Monday off so I had a day one of 6,300. I am shooting for 20K by the end of the weekend, at which point I will let myself slow down a little, as I will be sure I can make it. I think an edit I want to get back to is motivating me, as is knowing at some time in the second half of the month, my agent is probably going to send me some revisions (thought I won't have to address them until December, given my deadline of 12/31, but I KNOW ME. I want to have the leeway to attend to those without undermining WriMo success...

Have I mentioned that I might be insane? That is looking more likely all the time.

  12. Great photos Karen, thanks for sharing them. I'm not nannoing this year, just trying to finish the second draft of my WIP. That is enough to keep me writing for the next year.

  14. It took me 10 years to realize my slender novella, "Aloha Where You Like Go?"

    But worth it!

  15. Beautiful giraffes, one of my favourite animals. ;)

I'm revising my WIP and decided to focus on that vs. starting something new for Nano. It works out for me. ;)

    Happy writing!

  18. I love giraffes. I'm not in NaNo. My edits are great. 25 chapters so far with 12 to go. Then I start over with my editors suggestions.
By the way, I'm running a contest.

  19. It's an inspirational photo! Not sure why, but these creatures are a bit like publishing - stick your neck out.

  21. Not a good first week for me--I had to do some edits for a publisher on another novel while fighting off a cold. Next week will be better.
