Now down to business!! I have the name of my contest, thanks to some help from A.L. Sonnichsen!! (and my husband who created the image) Congratulations to our winner and her blog, The Green Bathtub! And thank you to all who entered, it was really tough to choose. I'll link to Amy on every contest post and she will also get an extra 3 points for each entry. Her name idea is Let-tuce Be Writers--
Isn't it awesome? I love how it all came out. Now on to the next contest, which is another way to promote literacy and support authors. Can you guess what it might be?
LETTUCE WRITE
LETTUCE READ Because I read a book and I'm giving it away to a lucky winner!
LETTUCE BLOG
LETTUCE SHARE
LETTUCE
LETTUCE BUY BOOKS
LETTUCE REVIEW BOOKS
Yes, to READ BOOKS! And I have a copy of a VERY INTERESTING BOOK to give away.
While on vacation I read the new release, Like Bees to Honey by Caroline Smailes. My Goodreads review is here. It's an awesome book well worth reading, and I have a copy to ship out to one lucky winner!!
We are writers, so LETTUCE READ!! In fact, we must read! Because the best book to teach you writing is the one you are reading right now.
And remember that a great way to support authors is by posting reviews to the books you read on Goodreads, Amazon, etc! Even if it's not a 5 star review, so what? We can be honest and still find good things to say with an intelligent analysis.
All you need to do for a chance to win Like Bees to Honey is comment & count up your points. For more chances, do more stuff! Point breakdown:

This will be a short contest. Monday or Tuesday I'll announce the winner and start another. Stay tuned! Happy Fourth everyone!
I love the name of your contest! Makes me want to eat salad. Yum.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to put your contest on my sidebar. Sweet!
Great name for the contest. I'll add your contest to my links.
ReplyDeleteLydia & Mary, Thank you! I know I may not get a lot of entries for this one since it's a holiday weekend post (duh! I should have started it yesterday at least!) But I appreciate your support!
ReplyDeleteFollower! 2 points! :o) PS: did you see my review of Uncut Diamonds. I hope you thought it was ok?
ReplyDeleteI'd love to read this book. So I did everything above. Total points: 9 (am already a follower - yeah!!)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great weekend out there in the desert...July as we know is a major holiday month for Utahns!! (glad you're back, but hope you had a great vacation)
Jessica, yes I saw your review and yours was what I meant when I said "intelligent analysis" and "find something good." Because even though a novel set in the 1970's about a Mormon family wasn't your thing, you gave it a fair, intelligent review and mentioned what you liked about it. I mean really we don't have to give every book 5 stars! Because if we do, our reviews start to lose their meaning anyway! The important thing is to read books and give them fair reviews, which you did and I thought it was very ok! I enjoyed getting your thoughts on Uncut Diamonds and I appreciated the fact that you took the time to post it!
ReplyDeleteAch! I'm so glad! I was a little worried. I really didn't want to hurt your feelings. But I certainly meant everything I said. You are a very passionate writer. I admire that. :o) xoxo
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say thank you SO much for reading and reviewing 'Bees'! Best not enter me for the competition :)
ReplyDeleteCaroline, You are very welcome. I only wish I'd thought ahead of time that a holiday weekend might not be the best time to run a contest! It's a lovely book, and you did a wonderful job! I'm looking forward to more from your pen.
ReplyDeleteWOW, Karen!! Thanks so much! :) I'm thrilled and honored to win your naming contest. And your hubby did a great job on the poster, too. I agree with Lydia -- makes me hungry!
ReplyDeleteAmy
