I'd never eaten Rum Raisin ice cream before, not even sure if they have it in the States, but boy do I love it! It tastes kind of like eggnog, rich and flavorful, and then you get these raisins that are surprisingly good. Raisins in ice cream isn't something I'd necessarily put together but it works.
Sounds yummy. I love a good ice cream. I usually hold the ice cream container in my hands, comparing weight at the super-market. The heavier ones are always better because they don't whip them full of air.

DeleteOoh! I like the sound of this! Rum raisin is definitely available here in Canada but my fave is Maple Walnut! Also, there is this one place in Nova Scotia that has ginger ice cream. yum!

ReplyDeleteInterestingly enough, we have a store here where we live that caters to Mexicans called Fiesta Foods. They have a little lunch counter and an ice cream case that holds the creamiest ice cream on the planet. I'm sure the fat content is very high but the flavors ... oh my goodness! I love to go there to watch them make tortillas on this huge machine, eat some of the most authentic Mexican food and top it off with a bowl of coffee flavored ice cream. I think just the food alone is a good enough reason to live in Mexico.

Funny, Rum & Raisin in my least favourite because it's the one that's most common in Jamaica. Since I've grown older though, I've come to appreciate the flavour more. It's the rum, I think. :)

ReplyDeleteI have had rum raisin ice cream. With Hershey right next door and Turkey Hill ice cream made nearby, we have lots of great choices.

DeleteThey have rum and raisin here Downunder but I don't like it. Do they do the real vanilla sort? I had some once - made by a West Indian friend - nothing like the commercial variety!

ReplyDeleteI've had rum and raisin before - I thought it was universal! I like it though I don't like rum. That reminds me of lager and lime lollies, which we used to buy from the ice cream van at school and pretend we were drinking lager. Carefree days!
ReplyDeleteI love ice cream! And even though I'm a ridiculously picky eater, I will try ice cream flavors that are a little different. There is a chain out of Ohio called Jeni's that has unusual flavors, like goat cheese and cherry. I visit Jeni's every time I go to Nashville. Rum raisin sounds delicious!
